Somewhere between digital and reality

Somewhere between digital and reality

I found digital drawing as an outlet to bring the ideas in my head to life. Starting digitally and implementing these drawings in my real life paintings – somewhere between digital and reality – just exactly where our modern lifestyle takes place. The metaverse is currently a big topic for me and I ask myself how will contemporary art look in ten years.

I know that most artists copy someone or something they have seen somewhere and it ends up in repetition. For me it was the same – I was influenced by street art and began to make stencil artworks around ten years ago. This was my way into the art world. But soon it seemed to be ridiculous to copy someone or move on with old styles or movements. Thats how my Metropolitan Aura series began. I wanted to work with photography in my way and not make the 393rd photograph at sunset from the Eiffel Tower. Which is nice – I know, but not what I wanted and definitely not how the reality is, because reality is somewhere in between. In between sunrises and sunsets. Not black not white – but somewhere in the middle.. Am I too philosophical?

Now. Crypto is big. The metaverse is emerging. Smartphones and other screens have most people under control. Me too. So it is simply logical for me to work digitally as an artist and play with experience levels on digital screens as well as bring digital works through print and paint to life. What part NFTs, films etc will conquer is the question. And I am still the one who loves canvases, frames and simply the real world. But the Zeitgeist shows that we are somewhere between digital and reality.
